The following is a message from Tooele City and the Utah Transit Authority (UTA)…
Using funding from Prop 1 for design and construction, UTA in partnership with Tooele City and the Tooele County Health Department will be installing new bike lanes and other pedestrian safety striping along 100 East and Vine Street in the coming month of October.
When complete, the project will connect the northeast corner of Tooele City (Middle Canyon Elementary School and England Acres) to the southwest corner of Tooele City (USU—Tooele) with safe and designated bike lanes and shared lanes. The project will also paint new stop bars along the route where stop signs currently exist to help motorists see the 4-way stops better.
Last year UTA painted bike lanes along 1000 North and as a result there has been a decrease in auto/pedestrian accidents of which many included young children walking to school. We are very excited for this project and more materials and information will be distributed to the community shortly.
