Upcoming Work – 07/06/15 – 07/13/15

Railroad Bridge to 1000 North

  • Crews are currently installing the storm drain in the 1000 North intersection. Once work at the intersection is complete, crews will continue south at a rate of approximately 300′ per day. We anticipate this work will reach approximately 700 North by the end of next week.
  • Placement of road base material will continue south of 1280 North. Use caution when accessing driveway and cross streets as large trucks and heavy machinery will be used during this operation.
  • Crews will begin placing the curb and gutter on Tuesday, July 7. This work will begin at the railroad bridge and head south.
  • Traffic restrictions for this area include:
    • Flagging operations will be used at the 1000 North intersection from 7am-7pm July 6 through July 8.
    • Northbound and southbound traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction
    • UPDATED Pine Canyon Road, from UEC Movie Theater to Copper Canyon Drive, was originally scheduled to open earlier this week; however, crews have been focusing on storm drain work on SR-36 and have not yet completed the storm drain work needed on Pine Canyon Road. This work will begin next week and the road will reopen to traffic on July 14.
    • Left turns are prohibited at:
      • 1280 North
      • 1000 North

1000 North to 600 North

  • Storm drain placement will begin south of 1000 North mid next week at a rate of approximately 300′ per day. We anticipate this work will reach approximately 700 North by the end of next week. This work will include open trenching.  Driveway access changes will be coordinated with property owners.
  • Crews will continue to work in the excavated area from 1000 North to 600 North to relocate utilities and prepare the subgrade for road base placement.
  • Traffic restrictions for this area include:
    • Northbound and southbound traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction
    • Left turns are prohibited at:
      • 700 North
      • 600 North

600 North to 200 North

  • Crews will continue to work in the excavated area from 600 North to 200 North to relocate utilities and prepare the subgrade for road base placement.
  • Traffic restrictions for this area include:
    • Northbound and southbound traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction
    • Left turns are prohibited at:
      • 500 North
      • 400 North

200 North to 520 South

  • Crews will begin removing asphalt on the east side of the roadway beginning July 9. Driveway closures of approximately 15 minutes will be needed as crews and machinery pass with the milling equipment. Temporary driveways will be immediately reestablished to provide access unless a secondary access is available to the property from a back or side street.
  • Traffic restrictions for this area include:
    • Northbound and southbound traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction

Looking Ahead

UDOT is 32 days into construction and they are reporting that they are currently on schedule and moving quickly.  They anticipate paving will begin the week of July 13 at 1250 North and head south. They’re excited to begin paving operations and give the public the first glimpse of the new road.
