ATTENTION Tooele City Residential Customers:
Garbage Can Fee Increase

Effective February 1st, 2024 Tooele City will implement the newly adopted fees for garbage can service of $13/month for a first can, and $6.50/month for any additional cans. After a comprehensive external study of the garbage removal and disposal costs it has been determined this fee increase is necessary in order to keep up with increased costs of the monthly garbage service provided to residents. This rate will be reflected on the bill dated February 26, 2024.

Customers who need to have any additional cans picked up may do so by calling 435.843.2150, by emailing a request to utilities@tooelecity.gov or in office at 90 N. Main St. The first can fee is a required service for all residential utility customers.

Trash Pickup

Garbage collection service is provided by Ace Disposal. Any questions on garbage pick up should be directed to Ace Disposal at 435.882.7009. Problems with cans provided by the City should be directed to us at 435.843.2150 or email utilities@tooelecity.gov.

Tooele City also offers a Curbside Recycling Program for our residential customers.

Only garbage in the city provided containers will be picked up. The container is the property of Tooele City; however, you are responsible for its care and cleaning. Please keep it free from destructive or decorative markings. Each container has an identification number which is assigned to a residence. DO NOT USE THE CONTAINER AT ANY OTHER LOCATION.

The cost of garbage collection services is:

  • Monthly Fee 1st Container $13.00
  • Monthly Fee 2nd Container $6.50
  • Residential Garbage Container Cost $65.00 (New or Replacement Containers)

Additional containers will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. The minimum time for keeping an additional container is 4 months. Before additional containers will be picked up they must be washed out.

On garbage pickup days, place the container at the edge of the street next to the driveway, opposite your mailbox, to insure easy access by the automated hauling trucks. Do not block driveways or roadways. The container’s wheels should be close to the curb or edge of the road with the lid hinge to the curbside and the lid opening facing toward the street.

Do not overfill the container to the extent that the lid does not remain firmly closed or to such an extent that the contents may be spilled during the process of pickup and dumping.  For items that do not normally fit in your trash can we offer a Bulky Waste Pickup.

Containers must be out by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day. Remove the container from the street as soon as possible after being emptied.

ACE Disposal offers free curb assistance for the elderly and/or people who have a disability who are unable to take their trash container to and from the curbside. For more information about this program, please contact the Tooele City Finance Dept. at 435.843.2150 or email utilities@tooelecity.gov.

Garbage will not be picked up on the following HOLIDAYS: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth National Freedom Day, July 4th, July 24th, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. On these weeks, service will be delayed one day starting with the holiday.
