Library: Bookmark Art Contest

Calling all aspiring artists and designers! Get creative for National Book Month!

Design original artwork on a bookmark encouraging others to “Get Lost in a Book”. Your design could be selected for print in a new series of bookmarks distributed at the library!

Don’t delay! The contest entry window is: October 1 – 31, 2018. (An entry template and complete contest rules available at your library after October 1.)

Winners will be selected from 3 age groups: 0-11 years, 12-18 years, and 19+ years old.

Do you love digital worlds and video games? Then you’ll love Gamer’s Group where you can PLAY OR CREATE! Every Friday, you can learn how to program computers, play games like Minecraft or Roblox – the choice is yours. Basically you can have tech fun in your own space… all while gaining tech skills for your future.

Coding and gaming is all self-paced, so just attend on the weeks you can. Registration is not required. A computer is provided during club time. And you can bring your own laptop if you’d like.

Open to ages 10 – 18.

Last year over 1,000 participants stopped by Fire Station #1. You can climb onto the fire apparatus, spray a hose line and try our obstacle course. Families have the opportunity to learn about fire safety by going through the life safety trailer.

Fire Open House 2018 Fire Prevention Week is a special week for the Tooele City Fire department. The department sponsors an open house for the residents of Tooele City, young and old, to visit the members of their fire department and become educated about fire safety. The open house will be October 13, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Hispanos Unidos de Tooele y Tooele City Library organizan “Conoce la Biblioteca” totalmente en español, el próximo Lunes 22 de Octubre de 6pm a 7pm.
Esta actividad tiene como objetivo incentivar y promocionar el uso de los libros y de la biblioteca como medio de ocio y disfrute, implicando en la misma a los niños, sus padres, abuelos, maestros y a la comunidad hispana residente de Tooele.
La biblioteca de Tooele tiene diferentes actividades para niños y adultos, los que han disfrutado de los libros, especialmente de cuentos y de la diversos eventos realizados semanalmente en la biblioteca. Todos son bienvenidos!

Family Halloween Carnival 2018

Halloween Carnival 2018Together With Youth is proud to present the 27th Annual Family Halloween Carnival to be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at the Dow James Building (438 West 400 North, Tooele).

This is a favorite tradition for many families in our community!

There’s food, games, face painting and much more for the entire family.  The kids costume parade will be at 1:00 p.m.

All the food and fun is FREE!  The suggested donation is one can of food per person to be donated to the Tooele Food Bank.
