Thrive125: UTAH’S 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF STATEHOOD CELEBRATION
Jan 4 @ 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm

Please join Tooele City along with the State of Utah in celebrating 125 years of Utah’s statehood on January 4, 2021. Utah Department of Heritage and Arts will be televising a cultural event from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and there will be fireworks in every county across the state at approximately 7:30 p.m. The display for Tooele County will take place at the Tooele High School football field. Please visit the Utah Department of Heritage & Arts for more information.

UTAH’S 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF STATEHOOD CELEBRATION
January 4th

Utahns are invited to participate in a statewide celebration of the 125th anniversary of Utah’s statehood, which will include a TV special and simultaneous fireworks in all 29 counties.
6:30 – 7:00 PM Televised event celebrating Utah culture
7:30 PM Fireworks
8:30 PM Re-air on PBS Utah

“Thrive125: A Utah Celebration” will air on Monday, January 4 at 6:30 p.m. on all four Utah network affiliates, with a repeat airing on PBS Utah at 8:30 pm. The special will celebrate the state’s artistic heritage, cultural diversity and scenic wonders. Performances will include musical and dance numbers from notable Utah performers and celebrity guests. The 30-minute television special will be followed by live fireworks displays at 7:30 pm in all 29 counties.

The Utah Department of Heritage & Arts said, “We are excited to have something to celebrate. The fireworks mark the actual 125th Anniversary of Statehood, but also will launch a series of events that will take place statewide in 2021. It’s our hope that through arts, culture, and history we will find commonality, joy, and a reminder of everything we have achieved as a State over the past 125 years.”

Fireworks will light the skies above all 29 counties in Utah as part of the 125th anniversary of statehood.  The fireworks shows will happen statewide at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 4, 2021, following a 30-minute TV special featuring performances from many of the state’s most notable musicians, dancers, and others.

“These fireworks celebrate 125 years of Utah excellence, but they are also a promise that the next 125 years will be even better,” said Gov.-elect Spencer J. Cox. “They also provide a wonderful opportunity for everyone to celebrate safely together.”

Tooele County’s Fireworks show will be at Tooele High School at 7:30 p.m.  It is important that this celebration is COVID safe. We encourage people to watch from a distance, in their cars, and in their front and back yards. The fireworks will be an exclamation point on a day of celebrations and in most counties will last only 3-4 minutes. We don’t want to encourage large crowds to gather. Parking will be available in some of the parking lots at Tooele High School or Tooele Junior High School, or we are encouraging people to park on the streets in the surrounding area if they are unable to see the fireworks from their own homes.
