Library: Adult Emergency Preparedness Contest

It’s the end of the world as we know it. Get prepared, so you’ll “feel fine!”


Create an emergency plan in one or more of areas described on the Tooele Ready website (www.tooeleready.org) provided by Tooele County Emergency Management.
When you’ve created at least one plan—come show a librarian and get an entry ticket into a drawing for awesome preparedness prizes.
One entry per person. Must be 19+ years old to enter.
Entry window: June 1—August 3. Winners announced August 5, 2019.

2nd Annual Bookmark Art Contest
Aug 1 – Aug 31 all-day

Calling all aspiring artists and designers!

Design original artwork on a bookmark encouraging others to “Books Make Good Friends”. Winning entries will be featured in a new series of bookmarks distributed and displayed in the library. Design winners will also receive an award in a City Council meeting.

The contest entry window is: August 1 – 31, 2019.

Winners will be selected from 3 age groups:

  • 0-11 years old
  • 12-18 years old
  • 19+ years old

Pick up complete contest rules and an entry template at the library during August.

Tooele County Fair 2019For over 60 years the Tooele County Fair has been a community tradition. This family event is anticipated all year as citizens work on home arts projects or the youth prepare their livestock to sell for auction.

Activities include:

⋅ Livestock Show and Sale

⋅ Phil Vassar Concert with Special Guest Carver Louis on August 2nd

⋅ Car, Truck, and Bike Show on August 3rd

⋅ Demolition Derby “Punishment at the Peak” 2 Days of Derby on August 2nd and 3rd

⋅ Food, Fun, Crafts and more!

Primary Election Sample Ballot - August 13 2019

The terms of Tooele City Council Members Steve Pruden, Dave McCall, and Brad Pratt will end December of 2019. This means that Tooele City will have an election this year for 3 City Council positions.

• There are 8 candidates running for Tooele City Council:

o Wayne Anderton

o Justin G. Brady

o Jeff Saunders

o Dave McCall

o Ed Hansen

o Jon Gossett

o Tony F. Graf

o Ryan Peacock

• The Primary Election will be on August 13, 2019 which will decrease the candidates to 6.

• The General Election to choose the 3 Council members will be on November 5, 2019.

• You can go to https://vote.utah.gov/ to learn about the candidates. You will need to enter your home address.  You can also find additional information about this year’s election by visiting the Tooele County Clerk’s website or by calling the Tooele City Recorder’s Office at 435.843.2113.

• Watch for upcoming meet the candidates events and learn more about each candidate, their qualifications, and why they want to serve as a Tooele City Council Member.

• Not registered to vote? Go to http://www.co.tooele.ut.us/clerk/voter.htm for information on how to register to vote – but you must do it soon!

Notice is hereby given that there will be Early Voting for the Primary Election to be held August 13, 2019

To Early Vote you will be required to turn the ballot that you received in the mail over to the election worker. You will then receive a paper ballot, like the one you received in the mail, to vote.

There will be a ballot marking device for disabled voters or voters who have trouble reading, writing, etc.

Tuesday, July 30th through Friday, August 2nd and

Tuesday, August 6th through Thursday, August 8th.

8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Friday, August 9th – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Voters who register after July 29th are not eligible to Early Vote.  Voter Identification is required for Early Voting.

If you have moved to Tooele County or within Tooele County, please Register to Vote in your new Precinct!!

Baby Bookworms (Birth – 24 months)

Baby Bookworms is a parent-child lap sit program using the 7 days 7 ways principles from Very Ready to Read.

Designed for babies from birth to 24 months.

This program is repeated 2 times and begins when full – or at 11:00 and 11:30.

Children 2 and older can enjoy programs for their age groups such as Wiggle Worms and Storytime. Look for these in our calendar!

Summer Food Service Program (FREE LUNCH for KIDS)
Aug 1 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

The purpose of this program is to ensure children receive nutritious meals at no cost.  Children 18 years old and under eat FREE. There are 4 locations in Tooele City where lunch will be served Monday – Friday* from 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m.  Keep our parks clean! Please put all trash in trash cans. Thank you!

*Exceptions:  Lunch will not be provided on July 4 or July 24 at any of the locations.
