Summer Food Service Program (FREE LUNCH for KIDS)
May 31 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

The purpose of this program is to ensure children receive nutritious meals at no cost.  Children 18 years old and under eat FREE. There are 4 locations in Tooele City where lunch will be served Monday – Friday* from 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m.  Keep our parks clean! Please put all trash in trash cans. Thank you!

*Exceptions:  Lunch will not be provided on July 4 or July 24 at any of the locations.

Gamer’s Group. Extra Fun: Surprise Challenge

Do you love digital worlds and video games? Then you’ll love Gamer’s Group where you can PLAY OR CREATE! Every Friday, you can learn how to program computers, play games like Minecraft or Roblox – the choice is yours. Basically you can have tech fun in your own space… all while gaining tech skills for your future.

Coding and gaming is all self-paced, so just attend on the weeks you can. Registration is not required. A computer is provided during club time. And you can bring your own laptop if you’d like.

Weekly Gamers Group Extras:

Week 1:   Chess Club   Learn and play chess
Week 2:   Lego Boost   Create Lego Robots
Week 3:   Coding Club   Coding challenges to build your skill
Week 4:   Minecraft Challenge    Show off your Minecraft building and design skills

Open to ages 10 – 18.

Library: Adult Emergency Preparedness Contest

It’s the end of the world as we know it. Get prepared, so you’ll “feel fine!”


Create an emergency plan in one or more of areas described on the Tooele Ready website (www.tooeleready.org) provided by Tooele County Emergency Management.
When you’ve created at least one plan—come show a librarian and get an entry ticket into a drawing for awesome preparedness prizes.
One entry per person. Must be 19+ years old to enter.
Entry window: June 1—August 3. Winners announced August 5, 2019.

Library: Teen Writing Contest

Write an original short story involving space in some way and submit it to the library before July 13.
Winners will be announced by August 3, 2019.

NOTICE OF 2019 ELECTION AND FILING PERIOD

 

NOTICE is hereby given that Tooele City will hold a City election to fill three (3) City Council positions, each for a four-year term.

Given a sufficient number of candidates, a Primary Election will be held on August 13, 2019, with the General Election being held on November 5, 2019.

Qualifications for a candidate are:

(1) Registered voter in the municipality in which the individual is elected*
(2) Must have resided within the municipality for which the candidate is seeking office for the 12 consecutive months immediately before the date of the election
(3) Pay filing fee, if one is required by municipal ordinance
(4) Not convicted of a felony**

Qualified candidates may file a Declaration of Candidacy form or a Petition may be filed in behalf of a qualified person. The filing is to be done in person with Michelle Pitt, Tooele City Recorder unless individuals are subject to Section 20A-9-203(3)(b) of the Utah Code. The filing period is from June 3, 2019 thru June 7, 2019, and not later than 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing.

* Utah Code §20A-2-101 states: A registered voter (1) is a citizen of the United States; (2) is a resident of Utah; (3) will, on the date of that election, be at least 18 years old, (4) has been a resident of Utah for 30 days immediately before that election; (5) and is registered to vote.

** Utah Code §20A-2-101.5 states: A person convicted of a felony loses the right to hold office until (1) all felony convictions have been expunged, OR (2) ten years have passed since the most recent felony conviction AND the person has paid all court-ordered restitution and fines AND the person has completed probation, been granted parole, or completed the term of incarceration associated with the felony.
