Updated June 21, 2020 8:30 p.m.

Tooele City learned on Saturday morning, June 19, 2020, that the fence around water tank #5 had been cut. The padlock securing the water tank had been cut, and the padlock dropped into the tank.

State officials were promptly notified. Following State regulations, a Do Not Drink order was put in place pending the results of water tests. Today, Sunday morning June 20, 2020, bacterial tests came back Negative: the water is clean. Chemical analysis is pending, but City and State officials believe the water is free from chemical contamination, and the State has lifted the Do Not Drink order. We believe the water is safe to drink. Thank you for your patience as we go through this difficult process.

Those criminals who threatened Tooele City’s water supply, and Tooele citizens, will be prosecuted fully. Please contact Tooele City or Tooele County Sheriff’s dispatch at 435-882-5600 with ANY information you may have about who might have committed these crimes.

As always, we are committed to serving you, the citizens of Tooele City.
