Tooele City is proud to be joining in a countywide remembrance of the 20th Anniversary of 9/11.

There are two events being held that day in commemoration of 9/11.  Tooele City is also hosting a hygiene kit drive to collect items needed by the Community Resource Center.  We will be collecting items the week of Sept. 7 – Sept. 10, 2021 to be delivered to the Community Resource Center on September 11, 2021 as part of our National Day of Service and Remembrance (see details below).

We will begin the morning at 6:46 a.m. at the Tooele City Police Department (50 North Garden Street, Tooele) for a Flag Raising Ceremony. Please note the countywide siren system will sound at 6:46 a.m. and the Tooele City Fire Station #1 siren will sound again at 7:03 a.m. in remembrance of those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001. The public is invited to join us for this event as Mayor Debbie Winn, Police Chief Adrian Day, and Fire Chief Chris Shubert honor our local first responders.

We will conclude the day at the Utah Motorsports Campus (512 Sheep Ln, Grantsville, UT 84074) with a free countywide event. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. there will be a First Responder Safety Fair.  At 8:00 p.m. there will be a program which includes welcoming remarks from Mayor Marshall of Grantsville City, posting of the colors by the Marine Corp, national anthem sung by Mayor Winn of Tooele City, with guest speakers Colonel Brian T. Hoffman, Commander Dugway Proving Grounds; Paul Wimmer, Tooele County Sheriff; Randy Willden, North Tooele Fire District Fire Chief; and Colonel Steven M. Dowgielewicz, Commander Tooele Army Depot.  The evening will conclude with a fireworks display by the Grantsville City Fire Department at 9:00 p.m.  Free Admission. Free Parking. All are invited to attend.
