5.7 magnitude Earthquake – March 18, 2020

After initial inspections, we would like to report that our wells are operating and our communication lines, water, and sewer systems are in normal operating condition. We will continue to look for any shear brakes and water surfacing around town. If you see water surfacing, please call City Hall at 435-843-2100 during the day and call Dispatch at 435-882-5600 after 5:00 p.m. We would like to remind you that if you smell gas to not turn on the lights or anything that would cause static electricity and call 911. If you notice any structural damage to your home or buildings, you may call City Hall if you would like them inspected.

Update: I-80 is open in both directions, but we are still asking people to avoid all non essential travel into the Salt Lake Valley until further notice. SR-201 is closed in both directions between 8000 West and SR-202.  SR-202 is open.

We may still experience additional aftershocks. We will post additional information when we receive it.
