Construction on Tooele’s Main Street Begins Saturday, September 16th
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has completed repairs to SR-36 (Main Street), including new asphalt from 3 O’Clock Drive to 2000 North. SR-36 will now receive a microsurface overlay, which is a preventative maintenance treatment that extends the life of the roadway.
The microsurface is applied as a liquid and requires approximately one to two hours to solidify before the surface is ready for traffic. During this time, access to driveways and sidestreets will be temporarily restricted. Specific driveway closure notices will not be given, however, work in the outside lanes near driveways will occur on Sundays only.
Microsurfacing work will begin this Saturday September 16th (weather pending) and will take approximately two weeks to complete. After the microsurfacing work, crews will make drainage improvements and install permanent lane striping. Work will take place seven days a week from dawn to dusk.
Businesses are open and accessible during construction. We encourage motorists to use alternative routes when traveling in order to get to your destination faster.
Safety is our top priority for our crews and every person that travels through our work area. We ask that all motorists pay close attention to the work zone signage and the flaggers. Also, we encourage you to reduce your speed when going through work zones and be aware that traffic may be stopped as you approach the project. Thank you in advance for helping us keep everyone safe.
