Neighborhood Block Parties

Host a neighborhood block party in partnership with Tooele City. Neighborhood block parties are a great way to meet and get to know your neighbors. Knowing your neighbors fosters a strong and safe community, and provides much appreciated support to new neighbors. Block parties strengthen social bonds and build trust and support among your neighbors. See our Summer and Winter/Indoor options below. Sign up to host a block party today!
Spring Block Parties (March - April)
Spring Neighborhood Block Parties
Host a warm indoor Neighborhood Block Party in partnership with Tooele City at the Tooele Youth Center (102 North 7th Street).

Tooele City will provide invitations, a maximum of 10 large pizzas, and resources highlighting our upcoming programs and events. You will also have access to hop scotch, shuffleboard, roller skating, and a life size chess game!  Neighbors may bring scooters, roller skates, balls, and games!

There is no charge to participate in this activity, but you must pre-register and receive a confirmation receipt at the end of your registration.

Tooele City Community Engagement Division’s Role:

  • Invitations:   You will be contacted by Tooele City staff and asked to provide information which will be placed on your invitations. Your invitations will be created and delivered to your home to be passed out to your neighbors. 
  • Pizza:  Pizza will be ordered and delivered to the Tooele Youth Center by Tooele City staff. The City will provide a maximum quantity of ten pizzas, which equals 80 slices. You may purchase additional pizza if needed to accommodate your needs.      
  • Games:  Hopscotch, shuffleboard, roller skating/roller blading, and chess will be available for your use at the Youth Center. Neighbors may bring scooters, roller skates, balls, and games!
  • Resources:  Resources featuring Tooele City’s upcoming events and programs will be provided for you to set out.
  • Clean Up Kit:  A cleanup kit will be kept in the kitchen for your convenience.
  • Tables and Chairs:  You will have access to 7 tables and ample chairs for everyone.   


Role of the Host:
 

  • Register at tooelecity.gov to host an Indoor Neighborhood Block Party at the Tooele Youth Center. Available dates and times are posted on the registration page.
  • Key pickup:   You will be responsible for picking up the key to the building at Tooele City Hall (90 North Main Street) room 227 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm the day before the party and dropping the key off on Monday at the same location. Please arrange to pick up keys and plan to return the keys after your party.    
  • Invitations: Define how many households you’ll invite. Please cap this at 75 people or less to attend. Deliver invitations to your neighbors' homes.
  • Paper Products: Provide your own drinks, plates, napkins, utensils, and tablecloths.
  • Entertainment:  You are welcome to bring scooters, skates, rollerblades, balls, and games.
  • Cleanup:  Access the cleanup kit from the kitchen. Wipe down tables and chairs and put them away.  Put all games away the way you found them and in their proper place.  Please make sure that all trash, including the bathroom trash, is taken outside and placed in the outdoor trash cans. Replace all trash cans with garbage sack liners including bathroom trash cans. Make sure that sinks are turned off. Turn off lights and lock the facility. 
  • Photos and Feedback:  Please e-mail some fun photos and a few paragraphs about your party to sandym@tooelecity.gov. Photos will be placed on our Community Engagement Facebook page. (Only share photos of individuals & their minor children who give permission to have their photos placed on social media).

Summer Neighborhood Block Parties

Block parties are a way to strengthen social bonds and build trust & support amongst you and your neighbors. 

Put a smile on your neighbors’ faces this summer! Host a Neighborhood Block Party in partnership with Tooele City. You may host your party in your neighborhood or use the Tooele Youth Center (102 N 7th Street) for FREE. Some start time flexibility is available. Below you will find all the necessary information needed to host a successful summer block party!

Role of Tooele City Community Engagement Division:

  • Invitations: you will be contacted by a Tooele City employee and asked to provide information to be placed on your invitations. Your invitations will be created and delivered to your home to be passed out to your neighbors. 
  • Pizza: Tooele City will provide up to 10 large pizzas to be delivered to your Neighborhood Block Party’s address. You may purchase additional pizza if necessary to accommodate your needs.      
  • Games: If you are hosting your party at the Tooele Youth Center you will have access to hopscotch,      shuffleboard, life-size chess, cornhole, and limited rollerblades. 
  • Resources: resources featuring Tooele City’s upcoming events and programs will be provided to you to set out. Please encourage your neighbors to view them and to take a photo of anything that interests them. Please encourage your neighbors to follow Tooele City’s Community Engagement Facebook page.   
  • Clean up kit: If using the Tooele Youth Center a cleanup kit will be located just outside the kitchen area for your access. The cleanup kit includes a basic first-aid kit and emergency phone numbers.     
  • Tables and Chairs: If using the Tooele Youth Center you will have access to 7 tables and ample chairs for everyone.   


Role of the Host:

  • Register at tooelecity.gov to host a Summer Neighborhood Block Party in your neighborhood or the Tooele Youth Center check available dates and register online at tooelecity.gov. Once you have registered to host a block party you will be contacted by a Tooele City employee.  
  • Key pickup: If using the Tooele Youth Center to host your block party you may pick up the building key the day before your scheduled party.  Please return the key the following Monday after your party.      
  • Define how many households you’ll invite.
  • Deliver invitations to your neighbors homes.
  • Provide: plan to provide drinks, plates, napkins, utensils, and tablecloths or delegate it out.      
  • Entertainment: If using the Tooele Youth Center you are welcome to bring scooters, skates, rollerblades, and balls in addition to what is offered by Tooele City.
  • Cleanup: If using the Tooele Youth Center access the cleanup kit located just outside the kitchen area. Wipe down tables and chairs and put them away.  Put all games away the way you found them and in their proper place.  Please make sure that all trash including the bathroom trash is taken outside and placed in the outdoor trash cans.  Replace all trash cans with trash sack liners including bathroom trash cans.  Make sure that sinks are turned off and toilets are flushed. Turn off lights and lock the facility as you exit the building. 
Winter/Indoor Block Parties (November - February)
