#TakePrideTooele is the theme for our citywide spring clean up event!

As residents, businesses, and organizations in Tooele City, we know that you care about your community, and want Tooele City to be a place where we all love to live, work, and play. There are many opportunities for everyone to participate. We are extending an invitation to our residents of all ages to clean up their own property. We also invite you to offer help in your own neighborhood to those who are not able to take care of their own property (don’t forget our seniors and those who are disabled).  We also have a list of community projects where your family, group, or organization could volunteer (i.e. beautify the cemetery, parks, roadways, etc.).

3rd Annual Tooele County Spring Cleanup (.pdf) 

Roads & Trails Clean Up

• • Runs from April 22 to May 18
    Join Tooele County is keeping the roads and trails clean. Register at the County Road Department (555 W. 900 S., Tooele), and specify the locations you intend to clean.  You will receive a Landfill punch pass, valid for 3 visits. The punch pass is solely for cleaning roads and trails. For more information, please contact Coral Vaclavik at 435.843.3204.

Personal & Neighborhood Clean Up

  • Tooele County Landfill is offering a special two-day event for local households! Present a driver’s license with a local address to drop off one load free of charge during this period. In the absence of proof of a local address, regular fees apply. Take advantage of this opportunity and keep our community clean. Items not accepted:  Paint, Thinner, Oil, Antifreeze, Trailers, RV's, Campers, Mobile Homes, Boats, Railroad Ties, Batteries, and other hazardous waste. For
    any questions regarding the landfill, please reach out to Katie Forbes at 435.843.4776.

Bulky Waste
To get rid of large items that will not fit in a trash can, Tooele City provides a monthly Bulky Waste Pickup Program. During the month of May we will double the bulky waste pick up days for residents.  Hazardous waste items are not acceptable for bulky waste pickup, but may be disposed at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day – this event has not been announced yet this year, but we will post an update when we have more information.  You may also contact the Health Department for more information about that event.

This year for #TakePrideTooele Day we will be cleaning up the Tooele City Community Center and the Ritz Theatre! Mayor Winn and the Tooele City Council invite you to join them on #TakePrideTooele Day - Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Check out our #TakePrideTooele Neighborhood Cleanup Trailer!  It is available for loan to Tooele City Community residents and community groups free of charge (minimum of 5 households or a group with ten or more volunteers). 

Trees
Spring is an excellent time for home owners to check trees and ensure there are no problems for others.   Trees are the ANSWER, but can also be the PROBLEM.  Trees can hurt individuals, and can also contribute to vehicle damage.  It is important to trim trees that hang out into the street.  A height of 12’6″ feet is required for vehicles to pass under.  On a sidewalk, a height of 8′ is necessary for individuals to walk underneath.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call our Public Works office at 435.843.2130.

• If something looks suspicious or dangerous, call dispatch at 435.882.5600. Do not pick up or touch any suspicious or dangerous items.
• Be sure to let us know the success of your event and note how much of a difference your efforts made. Take pride in what you have accomplished!
• Volunteers should not enter private property without permission to pick up items for disposal.

The #Take Pride Tooele Cleanup Trailer is available for loan to Tooele City Community residents and community groups free of charge (minimum of 5 households or a group with ten or more volunteers). The trailer is stocked with tools to help residents clean up their neighborhoods by removing debris, pick up litter, chop weeds down, clean gutters and overgrown areas or plant flowers.

The trailer is available on a first come, first serve basis. Click on the link below to reserve the trailer for your neighborhood clean up. The trailer will be delivered to your area by a Tooele City employee and picked up at the designated time.

The #TakePrideTooele began in 2018 under the direction of Mayor Debbie Winn. It is a program to provide opportunities and information to residents in an effort to keep our City a beautiful place to live, work, learn and play.

The Neighborhood Cleanup Trailer was made possible in 2021 through the Utah Department of Human Services SOR Grant to strengthen Tooele City neighborhoods and to provide the tools for neighbors to help make Tooele City a beautiful place to live, work, and play.  The program fosters community building by facilitating neighborhood-level engagement and empowering residents with opportunities to connect and to serve.

A dump trailer is also available and can be brought out to put green waste and garbage bags in.

Reserve the Clean Up Trailer for your neighborhood today!

Each project coordinator (the person reserving the trailer) should do the following:

• Request the use of the trailer at least 10 days before the proposed cleanup event.
• Ensure that participants using the power tools are at least 18 years old and have signed the waiver form before using tools.
• Pick up keys to the trailer during business hours at Tooele City Hall.
• Meet the driver who will be delivering the trailer.
• Take an inventory of the equipment upon arrival and return of the trailer.
• Properly secure trailer and its contents.
• Ensure trailer is free of trash and debris upon return.
• Ensure a proper parking location for the trailer in the project area. Complete the Cleanup Report Summary at the completion of your project.
• Have participants wear the provided safety vests and that they understand safety rules.
• Find volunteers by encouraging your friends, family and neighbors to join your cleanup event. Choose your location, set the date, and then promote!
• Share photos of your event.
• Distribute supplies to and retrieve supplies from participants and ensure all equipment is operated safely.
• We want to hear from you. Be sure to fill out the cleanup Report Summary.
• Return keys to City Hall during business hours.

• Trailer and equipment may only be used in Tooele City.
• Project must have a designated coordinator who is 18 years old or older and the keys must be picked up by coordinator during business hours.
• Complete and submit Cleanup Trailer Application/Waiver 10 days prior to event.
• Minimum of 5 households involved in the project or a group of 10 or more volunteers.
• Power Tools may only be used by participants 18 years and older and they must read and sign the waiver form before using.
• Trailer is not for commercial use.

#TakePrideTooele Day – May 20, 2023
This year for #TakePrideTooele Day we will be cleaning up graffiti!  Mayor Winn and the Tooele City Council invite you to join them on #TakePrideTooele Day - Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. We will meet at the corner of Broadway and Vine Street (Tooele Valley Museum & Historic Park) at 9:00 a.m. and then begin painting over graffiti in the Broadway area. We will provide paint and some supplies, but if you have rollers and brushes please bring your own.

In 2018, Tooele City Mayor Debbie Winn, staff members, and local residents participated on a committee to plan this annual event. We have come up with several ways for residents to join in the fun and take pride in our City! We are excited for the 5th annual Spring Clean Up in 2022! The official event will take place throughout April and May, however projects to keep our City beautiful happen year-round!

SUBMIT YOUR NOMINATION HERE beginning April 1, 2022! Nominations will be taken until Sunday, May 8, 2022. All nominees may not receive an award.
